PROVIDENCE COLLEGE NAMES NEW TRUSTEES

PROVIDENCE, RI, OCTOBER 29, 2020: Providence College (PC) recently announced the appointment of five members to its Board of Trustees. Four are new trustees and one is a returning member to the Board.  

Rev. Francis Belanger, O.P ’99G is a Dominican priest and has been the pastor in charge of S.S. Phillip and James University Parish in Baltimore, MD since 2017. The parish includes both a residential congregation and campus ministry service for Johns Hopkins University. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he received his M.A. in Theology from PC in 1999 and was ordained in 2005. 

Gregory Stephen Christenson, ’89 has been the chief financial officer (CFO) of Champion Petfoods since July of 2019. Previously, he served as CFO and in financial services roles with a number of other companies in the food industry, including Kraft Foods, Oberto Brands, WhiteWave Foods and Amplify Snack Brands. Now a resident of Boulder, CO, Christenson received a B.S. in Accounting from PC. He also earned an MBA (Summa cum laude) from Northeastern University. 

Maureen Corcoran, ’79 returns to the PC Board of Trustees after having served from 2008-2017. A retired executive vice president with State Street Corporation in Boston, MA, she now works as a consultant with Keystone Partners in Boston. Corcoran is also a Certified Executive Coach and Gallup Strengths Coach. She runs leadership workshops to help individuals and teams take advantage of their specific skillsets. Earlier in her career, she worked as a CPA for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and served as Director of Auditing at John Hancock Property and Casualty Insurance Group. She graduated from PC with a B.S. in Accounting. 

Dr. Teresa Ann Lavoie, ’89 is the Principal and a Management Committee Member for Fish and Richardson P.C., a global intellectual property law firm, where she has worked since graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2002. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, teaching biotechnology patent law. Lavoie was named Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer in both 2017 and 2019, and winner of a Diversity Leader Award by Profiles in Diversity in 2019. Prior to receiving her J.D., Lavoie earned a BS in Chemistry from PC (Summa cum laude) and both an MA and a Ph.D in Chemistry from Princeton University. She currently lives in Edina, MN. 

Rev. Michael A. Mascari, O.P is the academic dean and vice president of Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, MO. Previously, Rev. Mascari was president of the Board of Directors for the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy. Rev. Mascari also has experience as an attorney and professor. He earned a Ph.D. in Early Christian Studies from The Catholic University of America and also holds a J.D. from DePaul University Law School. He was ordained as a Dominican priest in 1987 and currently resides in St. Louis, MO. 

Founded in 1917, Providence College is the only college or university in the United States administered by the Dominican Friars. The Catholic, liberal arts college has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 4,000 students and offers degrees in 52 academic majors and 38 minors. Since 1997, Providence College consistently has been ranked among the top five regional universities in the North according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
