Providence College School of Arts and Sciences Creates Environmental Biology Major and Business Innovation Minor

November 12 – Providence, R.I – Providence College (PC) has created a new major and minor for students through the School of Arts and Sciences. As of the 2018-2019 school year, PC offers an Environmental Biology major and a Business Innovation minor.
The Environmental Biology major is a rigorous course of study within the Biology department that integrates many facets of both biological and environmental sciences. It is designed to prepare students for graduate studies and careers in research or applied environmental fields (e.g., environmental consulting). The foundations for the Environmental Biology major or ecology, environmental science, evolution, and conservation.
The Business Innovation minor is a supplement for students pursuing arts or science majors. Students are required to take classes to build depth in one of four tracks: Organizations and Entrepreneurs, Global Engagement, Applied Science, or Designed Thinking. These tracks are meant to integrate and elaborate on the principles being taught to students in their primary fields of study. The Business Innovation minor is only available to students within the School of Arts and Sciences; business school majors are not eligible for the minor.
Founded in 1917, Providence College is the only college or university in the United States administered by the Dominican Friars. The Catholic, liberal arts college has an undergraduate enrollment of just over 4,000 students and offers degrees in 50 academic majors. Since 1997, Providence College consistently has been ranked among the top five regional universities in the North according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
